Banning or reducing single-use plastic bags in supermarkets is a growing trend in Asia. The amount of plastic waste generated by Vietnamese people is approximately 2,500 tons of plastic waste per day. Supermarkets in Vietnam recently decided to make use of banana leaves instead of plastic as a packaging alternative for fruits and vegetables. Read more about this initiative here.
